The business context

A practical answer
to everyday complexity.

A long list of weaknesses is useful only when the organisation can decide what matters and how to respond. A good assessment relates a finding to the affected service, available evidence and the business context.

AXO discusses the authorised targets and testing approach with your stakeholders, then scopes the reporting, remediation and validation needed. Project-based assessment services complement ongoing security operations with a clear handover between the two.

Is this your starting point?

When this service fits.

Common reasons to start the discussion.

01

A security review produces findings without practical remediation ownership.

02

Cloud, identity and network configuration have grown without a common baseline.

03

The business needs clearer evidence before approving security investment.

What the scope can cover

The work behind the outcome.

A detailed starting point, shaped into a proposal for your environment.

01

Security posture assessment

Review the relevant controls, architecture and operating practices against an agreed baseline. Separate observed weaknesses from assumptions and identify where evidence or access is incomplete.

02

Vulnerability assessment & testing

Define authorised systems, application targets, test windows and operational boundaries. Agree whether validation includes penetration testing and what the final reporting and retest will cover.

03

Identity & Microsoft 365 reviews

Examine applicable authentication, privileged access, account lifecycle and tenant settings. Prioritise changes with the business owners who understand their operational impact.

04

Network & perimeter hardening

Review internet exposure, firewall rules, management access and configuration dependencies. Plan controlled changes with rollback and maintenance arrangements where necessary.

05

Application & cloud security

Assess relevant application, API and workload controls within the authorised scope. Consider identity, secrets, network access, logging and the responsibilities of hosting or development providers.

06

Remediation & readiness

Translate findings into an owned improvement backlog. Scope implementation support, verification, awareness activities or readiness exercises according to the risk being addressed.

Before we begin

Your questions.
Clear answers.

What is the difference between VA and penetration testing?

A vulnerability assessment identifies and evaluates weaknesses. Penetration testing adds a scoped attempt to validate exploitability and impact. The exact methods and boundaries must be authorised.

Will testing affect production?

Testing can affect systems. Discovery must identify critical services, permitted techniques, maintenance windows, stop conditions and escalation contacts before work begins.

Do you help fix the findings?

Remediation planning or implementation can be scoped alongside the assessment or as a separate stage. Identify which work remains with your team or other suppliers.

Can findings be retested?

Retesting should have an agreed scope, evidence requirement and delivery window. It verifies selected changes rather than implying that every future weakness has been eliminated.

Can the report be used for audit discussions?

The report can provide evidence of the work completed within its scope. Any regulatory mapping, assurance requirement or independent compliance opinion must be agreed separately.
